I build software and I measure it. Almost everything on this site starts as a performance question: how long something takes, how much memory it uses, and what it costs to make it faster.

I write things down because I am wrong often enough to need the record. A tool feels faster after an update and I believe it, then I measure it and find the difference was nothing. Sometimes the opposite happens.

I work on network security policy software. Outside of work I build small local-first tools.
